Foundation in Action
Double Rocker Ranch — aka Hawks Quarter Horses — sits in Stephenville, Texas, and has been turning out solid foundation Quarter Horses for more than 25 years. Not because it's trendy. Because it works.
Our program was built around one simple idea: horses need to do something. Every horse here has been born and raised on the ranch, handled from day one, and bred with the bone, the heart, and the brain to stay useful long after the glossy young ones have washed out of whatever pen they came from. Our stallions are broke to ride. Our mares have seen cattle. The foals hit the ground with miles already baked into their bloodlines.
We've been quietly crossing these tried-and-true foundation lines onto some of the more popular bloodlines of today — and the results have been, frankly, gratifying. Roans, buckskins, duns, cremellos. "Quality with Color" isn't just a tagline. It's what happens when you actually plan your crosses.
We're not a fancy operation. We're a working ranch. The horses here have miles, manners, and something to prove every single day. We raise the kind of horses we like to ride — and the kind of horses our kids can ride. If that sounds like what you're looking for, you're in the right place.
Current Stallions
